Stay Tuned

Out playreading committee is hard at work finalizing the show list for next season.  In the meantime, here is a rundown of the remainder of the 2022-2023 season:

August 2 – 7:30 pm – STAGEWORKS Staged Reading: Two Thirds Home by Padraic Lillis. Two brothers, Michael and Paul, return to their childhood home after their mother’s funeral. There, they confront deep-seated issues and Sue, their mother’s surviving lover. An affecting and resonant drama with a healthy dose of humor, Two Thirds Home explores the ways in which sharing secrets can both create and destroy intimacy.

August 12 – 21 – Thursdays through Sundays (7 performances) – 7:30pm; 2:00 pm on sundays – MAINSTAGE performance: Becky Shaw by Gina Gionfriddo. An evening calculated to bring happiness takes a dark turn when Suzanna decides to set her best friend Max up on a blind date with her husband’s mysterious, sexy and strange co-worker, Becky Shaw.

“Gina Gionfriddo’s comedy of bad manners, a tangled tale of love, sex and ethics among a quartet of men and women in their thirties, is as engrossing as it is ferociously funny, like a big box of fireworks fizzing and crackling across the stage from its first moments to its last…deftly plotted, scabrous and sharp-witted…One of the great pleasures of BECKY SHAW is the way the moral ground keeps shifting underneath your feet.” —NY Times.

August 23 – 7:30pm – STAGEWORKS Staged Reading (originally scheduled in May): Kill Move Paradise by James IJames.  Four Black men find themselves trying to make sense of their new paradise in a waiting room for the afterlife. Inspired by the list of slain black men and women, this illustrates the potential for collective transformation and radical acts of joy.
